Time to get off my butt and start doing something. Anything.
“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.”

We all ought to take heed. reminds me of Sir Karl Popper and his erudition on mankind:
“Man, some modern philosophers tell us, is alienated from his world: he is a stranger and afraid in a world he never made. Maybe he is: yet so are animals and even plants. They too were born, long ago, into a physico-chemical world they never made. But although they did not make their world, these living things changed it beyond all recognition, and, indeed, remade the small corner of the universe into which they were born…Last came man, who for a long time did not change his environment in any remarkable way…Yet we have created a new kind of product or artefact which promises in time to work changes in our corner of the world as great as those worked by our predecessors, the oxygen-producing plants, or the island building corals. These new products, which are decidedly of our own making, are our myths, our ideas, and especially our scientific theories”

I’m on about not whining all the time and actually doing SOMETHING about this goddamn country, that’s what.
August 13th, 2009 at 09:26 am
@JB – Yes, DOING; now thats a leap from talking.
Methinks leaving the country like we all did killed the possibility of any change happening. If we had all been there right now, contained within, stewing in frustration, with no jobs, no money, hungry as hell, something was going to give. That people army was surely going to emerge.
Right now, I have no fuckin’ idea what to DO about our country.
@ A-CM – was that irony deliberate or accidental?
), uses a philosopher’s IDEA to debunk philosophical IDEAS, myths and scientific theory?
Sir Karl Popper (what a name

@Mos_Native – the diasporans would have liberated us had they stayed. my shirt is too well pressed for me to be roflmao
@JB you need more adidas in your life impossible is nothing. I hope that this whine is not a subscription to the one day as a tiger instead of an eternity as a lamb school of thought
August 13th, 2009 at 17:17 pm
Diasporans? Liberating us? No way! I hadn’t considered that … why not come back and save us, then?
And you BD, coach of Fight Club, what can we possibly do here? Besides the obvious charity work …
August 13th, 2009 at 18:08 pm
Ey there, easy does it; dont get your knickers in a knot!
There is no “us” diasporans vs “you” who stayed. I do not have any airs about being a third rate citizen in a foreign country. And do not suggest a superior quality to diasporans. Which diasporan peed in your coffee. Sheeeeez…
Now that thats outta the way;
I mean that Zimbos have an escape – which is emigrating. If that option was not there, the total four million diasporans would have added four million people to the scarce jobs, food, and opportunity and the WHOLE 12 million mass of people would have hit the streets and earlier, as a result.
tchk…touchy little fellows.

I think what JB is tryna say is that he has decided to bite the bullet, make a big commitment and register to vote in the next general elections. Isnt JB?
I foe one am proud of you.

August 14th, 2009 at 13:21 pm

August 14th, 2009 at 13:44 pm
Fight club – I apologise but like I said on gtalk there are multiple versions.
Will see you at Sportivo tomorrow.
Mos Native, I think that there is a very defined you v us. We stayed you left. We have been shaped by our collective experiences in Zimbabwe and by our varied ones in Zim and diaspora respectively.
Some of your colleagues look(ed) down upon us but that is a discussion for another day.
Mind is on rugby. Redesign JB – bet’s on?
August 14th, 2009 at 14:10 pm
Ha ha, no bets this season china. I’m already in the final stages of another design.
Tara, I haven’t actually decided WHAT to do, but I’ve decided to do SOMETHING! Watch this space for details
August 14th, 2009 at 17:25 pm

August 17th, 2009 at 09:01 am
