A culture of impunity

This is from a report in today’s The Standard, in a report about how an MDC official said that state security organs perpetrated violence against the Zimbabwean people, but immediately back-tracked under challenge from a military Colonel present.

Soldiers, police officers and Zanu PF militia accused of torturing and killing MDC supporters in last year’s elections have not been arrested or questioned although some of them are known.

This is from another article in the same paper about a woman (allegedly) raped by soldiers trying to force her employer off his farm for the benefit of a Brigadier Justin Mujaji.

Asked about the soldiers deployed on Karori Farm, Mujaji said: “Yes there are soldiers at my farm but they are my soldiers who are only there to protect my farm.”

So they are apparently his soldiers. There to protect his farm.

Welcome to Zimbabwe.
