Kim Jong; ill?

Interesting to hear that Kim Jong-il, the Dear Leader of North Korea may not be in the best of health.

Son of legendary moron Kim Il-sung, Lil’ Kim was always one of my favourite pet dictators, those laughable caricatures of idiot-despot propagated by Western media and popular culture.

Indeed, his star turn in the 2004 film Team America: World Police as a lonely (pronounced: ron’ry) madman obsessed with “Arec” Baldwin firmly made him an icon in my eyes, even more mock-worthy than Gadaffi or whomever else Hollywood was dissing at the time.

Now he’s apparently nearing his life’s end. Well, dynasties aren’t forever, and dictatorships always fail.

Nevertheless, “… any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

Oh, who am I kidding? Die, motherfecker. Die.

The good stuff – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

  •  Kim imported 200 brand new Mercedes-Benz S500s, adding to North Korea’s fleet of 7,000 Mercedes cars.
  • Defectors claim that Kim has 17 different palaces and residences.
  •  In 1978, on Kim’s orders, South Korean film director Shin Sang-ok and his actress wife Choi Eun-hee were kidnapped in order to build a North Korean film industry.
  •  Kim commands the fifth largest standing army in the world .
  •  North Koreans have been referred to as “some of the world’s most brutalized people”.

  1. Fidel Castro is gone, Gadaffi reformed, Mobutu dead, Mugabe seeing flames – The Strongmen are dead, long livve the strongmen – not.

    To everything there is a season and for those MF’s the chickens are coming home to roost. Still got a few naughty generals in Myanmar(Burma) and oil rich leftists like Chavez but the world is changing.

    All you buggers who used to sing long live at the national sports stadium well you dreams have become our nightmare.

  2. Yeah, well the only problem there is that though Chavez may be a Scary Red Leftist, he’s a democratically elected socialist reformer, and that scares the ever-living SHIT out of the States.

    And he’s sitting on one of the world’s top 10 oil producers. Talk about a nightmare. He’s my guy.

  3. Mugabe will stay on as President with his current two deputies, Joice Mujuru and Joseph Msika, but with diluted executive power which will be shared with Tsvangirai, who assumes the post of Prime Minister.

    Tsvangirai will be deputised by Thokozani Khupe, also his vice in the MDC, and Arthur Mutambara, leader of a rival MDC faction whose party was also represented in the talks.

    # President Robert Mugabe with two deputies from Zanu PF;
    # Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai with two deputies from MDC-M and MDC-T;
    # Mugabe, as head of state and government, to chair cabinet of 31 ministers;
    # Tsvangirai to preside over a council of ministers, supervises ministers, formulates and implements policies, sits in National Security Council (JOC) and heads government business in parliament;
    # Zanu PF to have 15 ministers and eight deputy ministers, Tsvangirai’s MDC faction 13 ministers and six deputy ministers and the Arthur Mutambara faction three ministers and 1 deputy minister;
    # Provincial governors to be shared among the three parties;
    # If an elected representative (MPs and Senators) dies or is recalled by their party 12 months from the day of signing, none of the other parties to the deal will contest the by-election;
    # The “inclusive government” will remain in power for a maximum five years. A review of the power-sharing deal will take place in 18 months, and every year thereafter;
    # New constitution after 18 months.
    # Constitutional Amendment No 19 to be passed to facilitate implementation of the agreement.

    It will take a while to unravel this mess but hope is there. I would hate to be the Herald editor right now

  4. Good day for Africa

    Zuma wins court bid
    12/09/2008 12:07 – (SA)

    Pietermaritzburg – ANC president Jacob Zuma has won his bid to have the decision to prosecute him on corruption and other charges declared unlawful.

    Judge Chris Nicholson gave his judgment to a packed Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday morning.

    He said that while the application had nothing to do with Zuma’s guilt or otherwise, it was a procedural matter.

    Thousands of supporters broke into applause outside the court on the news of the verdict.

  5. Any word on changing the constitution to make sure that an individual can only be president of just two terms? Terms that only last just four years. No? Because that is the only way to get me to start thinking about considering being as optimistic as Buffy. Because right now, I still can’t see a speck of light in this here infinite black hole.

  6. Oh my days. Re JB: the book is a classic.

    And what the hell…? How on earth is that weird concoction of powers meant to work in the Zim Govt? I mean, England has the royal family but they generally remain silent lol. Prime Minister AND President…?!

  7. Do people in Zim still say that zvinhu zvakadhakwa, or has local parlance moved on? Coz that would be an apt summary.

    Has anyone seen recent pics of Tuku. Mmmm, uyu tato mu diagoniser (sic). Those long illnesses of which people often make mention.

  8. Anyone see Zapiro’s response to the critics about THAT cartoon? Classic! Same cartoon, but now there is a speech bubble above he-who-has-a-showerhead-sprouting-out-of-his-head-but-whose-name-cannot-be-uttered-by-anyone-other-than-a-Z**a-loyalist which reads ‘But before we start, I
    just want to say how much we RESPECT you’. Awesome! Slay those critics, Zapiro!

  9. I love Zimbabwe. I also love Jonathan Shapiro, he’s awesome.

    There’s a palpable mood of optimism around town, peeps are chuffed there’s a deal, and are toasting old Mogiza in the bars.

    And openly loving MDC. Things have changed, re-arranged as Freshly Ground would say. Love it.

  10. Have me a new hero. that Babel lad. *swoons* AWESOME!! and I had the pleasure of watching that game in the company of a ManUre supporter. He was definitely walking alone.
